Formation of an adherent Al2O3 scale: after 100h isothermal exposure at 1100°C in air.

Sharp tip of wedge-type specimens of CMSX-4

Cyclic oxidation:

Formation of a non-protective NiO oxide at the tip and internal attack after 100h exposure under thermal-cycling conditions at 1100°C in air.
